Viking History.
1931:

The introduction of Viking. The company begins manufacturing rubber products (including shoes and tires) in Askim, Norway.
1970:
Viking gains its first experience as an original equipment manufacturer focused on car tires. With over 50% market share, Viking becomes the market leader in Norway. Almost every Norwegian is familiar with the brand and trusts its tires. Simultaneously, Viking becomes a global brand and an original equipment supplier for Volkswagen, Opel, Ford, and Volvo. The impact on the perceived quality of Viking's products is impressive.
1983:
Viking goes international. Viking's success in its home market leads to expansion into Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, and the United States. Continental AG acquires trademark rights in the early 1990s. Viking becomes part of Continental AG's multi-brand strategy.
2008:
Expanding market position. Viking sells about one million tires annually for the first time.
2010:
After extensive development, the SnowTech II winter tire is launched.
2012:
The new Viking CityTech II and Viking TransTech II summer tires complete the summer tire segment.

Viking SnowTech II outperforms popular competitors in AutoBild's winter tire test.
2014:
